What is an "Indie Biz"?

An Indie Biz is simply short for Independent Business. An independent is a small business that are privately owned rather than corporately owned. 

What types of businesses are accepted onto the list?

We have a variety of businesses including - handmade shops, service based companies and more. You won't find corporate based or MLM companies listed.

How does a business become apart of the list? 

All of the shops that are apart of the list have either been invited or have been through the application process. Every shop on the list has had their product quality evaluated, as well as, their customer service practices. We have experienced every business listed first hand.  Once a member has been accepted their are apart of our list and promoted for the life of their business*.

The A-List originated in 2012 as a page on a blog with a couple of shops listed, and as word spread about the A-List more shops applied to be listed on the page. Soon we outgrew the page and we needed a home for the A-List. Soon we built this current site that houses a couple of categories, and shops - and in 2013 we added even more shops and categories and started the blog portion.  For 2014 we will be upgrading to an even better site with forums and more resources for business owners. 

The big picture goal for the A-List is to become one of the top reputable resources for indie/small businesses.  This means being the first stop for consumers when planning to make a purchase knowing that their will be taken care of my any member that is listed on this site as a reputable vendor.

Small Business runs in Kristina's blood. There isn't a time that she can remember that small business wasn't apart of her life in one way or another. With an entrepreneur for a dad she grew up learning a lot about the ins and outs of business and has experience with a variety of business models. After starting her own brick-n-mortar company several years ago and learning some of the biggest business lessons of her life she found a passion for helping small businesses and started a business solutions helping with road mapping and branding. In 2011, Kristina started a handmade side business and Kristina also made her first online handmade purchase and fell head over heels in love with the community and all that handmade really stood for. In 2012 she founded the A-List in effort to help awesome small businesses stand out and to help consumers find handmade businesses they can really trust. The Indie A-List has become a great passion for Kristina where she can continue to love and support independent businesses and help them thrive.  When Kristina isn't shouting awesome handmade goodness from the rooftops you'll find her chasing her toddler daughter around, exploring Colorado with her husband and daughter, cooking in her kitchen or painting for her company Studio1241.  Find Kristina on Twitter.
